What is Zero Liability on a FleetCard?
Zero Liability is a protection feature available on FleetCard business fuel cards that helps protect Australian businesses against unauthorised fuel purchases made using a lost or stolen card. If eligible unauthorised transactions occur, FleetCard may reimburse the business for those charges, helping reduce unexpected costs and financial risk. Zero Liability is commonly associated with credit cards and payment products, where cardholders are protected from fraud if their card details are misused. FleetCard applies this same concept to fuel card transactions, giving businesses added confidence when employees are using cards on the road. Unlike standard dispute processes, FleetCard Zero Liability applies from the moment the card is lost or stolen, not just from the time the loss is reported to FleetCard. Terms and Conditions. and reimbursement limits apply.
How much can a FleetCard customer be reimbursed under Zero Liability?
Eligible FleetCard cardholders may be reimbursed up to $200.00 AUD per card, per calendar year for unauthorised fuel transactions covered under Zero Liability. This reimbursement limit applies individually to each eligible card linked to the account, which can provide additional protection for businesses managing multiple vehicles or drivers. Reimbursements are subject to FleetCard’s eligibility requirements, claim verification process, and compliance with the applicable Terms and Conditions.
Do I need to file a police report to make a Zero Liability claim?
Yes. To submit a Zero Liability claim, a police report must first be lodged before notifying FleetCard that the card has been lost or stolen. FleetCard requires a valid police report as part of the verification process for fraudulent transaction claims. Claims submitted without a police report already on record may not be eligible for reimbursement. Businesses should report lost or stolen cards as soon as possible to help minimise unauthorised usage and begin the claims process promptly.
Can FleetCard verify a claim before processing a reimbursement?
Yes. FleetCard reserves the right to verify all Zero Liability claims before any reimbursement is processed. This may include confirming transaction details with the relevant merchant and reviewing account activity. In addition, the business must remain compliant with the FleetCard Terms and Conditions for Zero Liability to remain active on the account.
